Where design, research and identity intersect, R+ dissects — that is, all the time.
Out of a background of cultural nuances and changing statistics, our practice foregrounds the relatable, the relevant and the real. We bridge gaps with a discourse delivered by multiple means of dialogue; Events. Exhibitions. Publications.
R+ is a strategic design and research unit that alternates between design-based research and research-based design.

Publication/Work:
Publication 1: Making Malaysia: Navigating Narratives (first published May 2024)
Making Malaysia is an ongoing publication that measures and maps the progress of Malaysians who are making an impact in our ever-evolving social landscape. As a series, it documents the endeavours of progress modelled by Malaysians while contextualising them within the collective realities of past, present and possible futures. Making Malaysia's first volume, 'Navigating Narratives', unpacks the efforts of several makers who creatively navigate through these otherwise intricate layers of societal narratives within their fields of operation. This volume in particular invites all Malaysians to reflect upon—through the actions of these makers—why we create narratives, how we deliver them, and why we choose the narratives that we choose to embrace.
The publication comes accompanied by several types of merchandise featuring excerpts taken from the book: posters and caps.
Publication 2: group, design, partnership; (first published August 2025)
From its founding in 1990 until present-day, GDP Architects reflect upon the many opportunities that have been given to them over the course of the last thirty-five years—and how they have contributed to several 'canvases': from a room in a building, to the country in which the practice proudly calls home, Malaysia. This publication is driven by a simple hope: to learn from the journey thus far and to seize this rare window of opportunity to revisit the very words that describe them: Group, Design, Partnership;
