“TTYL BOOK” in Taiwan since 2016 is a group of three artists: Amos Chu, a painter, Hanyun Liang, a ceramist, and Szuyu Liu, a book maker. ‘TTYL’ is the abbreviation of "talk to you later". We are self-publishing limited editions of drawing and photography, and fixated with subjects such as people, memory, emotion and nature—fragments of daily life. We also attempt to experiment more reading ways and experiences through different materials and bindings. For us, making books is always a journey to explore the world for a little better understanding of life.

Publication/Work:
For the coming KLABF, we plan to display recent works in which we are experimenting on the book formats, for example, ”Between” (Szuyu, 2024) and “screenshots” (Amos, 2024). Also the updated edition “entrance and exit” (Hanyun, 2024) juxtaposing ceramic sculptures and hometown photographs on papers will be presented at the fair.
-
In the book ”Between”(Szuyu, 2024), by turning two wheels on both sides of the front side, the reader can combine two words in a sequential or random order. In the additional booklet, alaphabets are arranged around the pages, and they are different interpretations of the word “between”. The reading experience in this experimental work is to feel and imagine the change of emotion and time by choosing and combining the words by hand.
In another work “screenshots” (Amos, 2024), all images are created by using the iPhone's background removal tool and edited on the device. By repeating cutting, copying and pasting the numerous photos taken on the street, this work made of 36 cards is trying to asking the same question: “How are values, ideologies and stereotypes established and transformed? How do they reflect or deviate from reality?”.
-
Since it is the first time for us to participate in KLABF, besides the newest editions mentioned above, we’ll also bring some books made from 2017-2023 to introduce to readers our context in making books and artworks, and there will be around 13~15 titles in total.
