Tiny Studio

Short Bio / About Organization:

Tiny Studio is a Jakarta/Paris-based graphic design practice founded by Nadine Hanisya and Ratta Bill. We craft bespoke visual identities for brands, editorials, music groups, and cultural projects. Beyond commissioned work, we publish zines and prints to express our ideas in tactile form. Since 2022, we’ve released several zines and joined local art book fairs in Indonesia. Looking ahead, we aim to participate in fairs across Asia to share our stories with new, culturally diverse audiences and explore creative opportunities beyond Indonesia.

Publication/Work:

USA Pic Dump is the first zine we published at Tiny Studio. Released in 2022 at the first Jakarta Art Book Fair, this book takes readers on a firsthand journey with the Singaporean band Subsonic Eye as they toured the US for the first time. Instead of portraying only the photogenic moments one might expect in traditional music magazines, this zine dives into the raw and playful moments captured on the phones of the band members themselves. In addition to photographs, this zine also includes personal notes and exclusive interviews that are intimate and honest.

Our second zine is an Indonesian cookbook titled Pedas (Indonesian for 'spicy'), which contains recipes and articles by London-based Indonesian chef Rahel Stephanie. More than just a collection of recipes, this book offers a personal reflection on how spiciness might influence the fiery nature of Indonesian culture. As designers, we try to capture its heat by translating the spicy sensation into tactile experiences, forms, colors, and typography. This zine has been featured in notable design media such as Monocle Radio and Grafis Masa Kini.
