Publication/Work:

PEARS inaugural issue looks deep into femininity. What does it mean to certain individuals and what are the features (both physical and non-physical; tangible and intangible) that can be classified as feminine? Have the traditional qualities of being feminine ceased to exist? Or what we have now is an evolution, a continuation of what we had?

For our second issue, we are taking the attention on the theme of body modification we make ourselves or made by conforming to societal standards. These changes may manifest in a physical or mind alteration. We are keen to feature individuals and communities who go against the grain or may refuse to stand out but still own their choices.

Our third edition began with a simple, familiar idea: “nobar”—an Indonesian word for gathering to watch movies or shows together. In those shared hours, a flickering screen becomes something more than just entertainment. It sparks imagination, invites reflection, and most of all, brings people closer. That’s why, for this edition, we turned our attention to the moving image. This issue celebrates how stories move us—and move through us—while also asking lingering questions: What will happen to movie theaters now that streaming is the norm? And why do women’s stories so often feel one-dimensional?

We also have merchandises such as t-shirts and stickers.
