(1) Yugami: Takuya Rikitake
A Japanese Photographer Takuya Rikitake stayed as an Artist-in-Residence on a remote island in Kagoshima Prefecture in early 2024. During his stay, Rikitake photographed a variety of subjects on the island, including nature, creatures, culture, and human relations, from the perspective of neither islanders nor tourists. Rikitake laid out this book following his intuition, without categorizing each subject according to preconceived notions. The artist believes the book will highlight his neutral attitude toward this island and bring new perspectives to the readers.
The title of the book, “Yugami (distortion)”, remains a mystery. However, Rikitake is convinced that the word best describes these photographs. What made him take such pictures and give this book the name “Yugami”?

(2) flat: Daichi Nakatani
A collection of printed works by architect Daichi Nakatani. He creates paintings with a distinctive impression by drawing lines that are devoid of any descriptive qualities using oil pastels. As the works he creates fit into superficial formats such as picture frames, he observed the creativity and architectural appeal of bookbinding and printing and decided to create a book with the aim of publishing it. He began drawing original paintings to match the size of the book's pages, and spent about two years completing this book while exploring the potential of expression through printing and creative software.
