Ed Merlin Murray is an artist, illustrator, and animator known for his surreal, hand-drawn work exploring the human mind and inner worlds. He works across drawing, collage, animation, and printmaking, with a practice rooted in traditional sketchbooks and tactile processes. His self-published book Mysterium Conscientia and his follow-up CHAOS / PATTERN reflect a playful yet thoughtful approach to neuroscience, mysticism, and meaning-making.
Originally from the UK, Ed now lives in Selangor, Malaysia with his poet wife, four children, and a small dog named Coconuts.

Publication/Work:
Publications / Printed Editions:
1. Mysterium Conscientia (2019)
A self-published hardback art book featuring a series of intricate, surreal drawings. The work explores ideas around human consciousness—touching on neuroscience, metaphysics, mysticism, and other unusual fields of thought. Although the themes are deep, the tone is playful, curious, and sometimes funny. The book is beautifully produced with a clothbound gold-embossed cover and was released as a limited edition of 4,000 copies.
2. CHAOS / PATTERN (2021)
Published by Unseen Sketchbooks (UK), this book presents a collection of sketchbook drawings created during the lockdown period. It comes in two versions: a limited-edition hardcover with hand screen-printed cover and exposed lay-flat binding (includes a signed screen print), and a more affordable softcover edition. The drawings explore the tension between structure and chaos in daily life and creativity.
Other Goods & Merchandise:
I also plan to bring a selection of postcards, prints, screen prints, and small zines, along with limited edition t-shirts or tote bags featuring artwork from my animations and sketchbooks. All items will be printed in small batches and only available at selected events like KLABF 2025.
