Vănguard is a collective, publishing house, and creative production company amplifying marginalized voices, with a focus on LGBTQ+ and femme Vietnamese narratives. We operate at the intersections of art, activism, and publishing, exploring themes of displacement, identity, resistance, and collective future building. Through art books and online media, we expand mainstream narratives and create space for nuanced, underrepresented perspectives. Our practice is deeply collaborative, working with artists, writers, and communities to foster solidarity and critical dialogue across borders. Vanguard sees creative publishing as a means of empowerment and self-actualization.

Publication/Work:
Vănguard plans to exhibit Vănguard issues 1–6, spanning 11 years of work and featuring over 100 queer Vietnamese artists, alongside its latest releases: the new book Trầm Tích and Vănguard 7.
Our publication Vănguard 6 centers around Vietnamese Futurism: a radical framework nearly 50 years after the Second Indochina War, urging us to reimagine existence beyond extraction and colonial residue. This zine is a living document, part archive, part prophecy, engaging themes of legacy, healing, and possibility. Marking Vănguard’s 10th anniversary, we recommit to amplifying queer and trans Vietnamese voices shaping our collective future. These contributors reclaim identity through fantasy, spontaneity, and resistance to cis-heteronormativity and racial capitalism. Their visions decentralize tradition, urging us to embrace complexity and the unknown. The future isn’t far away as it is unfolding now, within our stories, our struggles, and our radical imagination.
Vănguard's upcoming publication Trans Viet book: Trầm Tích / Unearthed Memories is a space to document, honor, and celebrate the lives, stories, and experiences of trans, non-binary, and genderqueer Vietnamese people through photos, memories, and personal narratives. It serves as a living archive, uplifting voices that are too often erased or overlooked. Featuring over 42 trans and non-binary Vietnamese creatives across the U.S., Vietnam, Europe, Canada, and Australia, this project centers community, visibility, and self-definition. It is both a tribute and a testament: a space of joy, resilience, and truth that affirms the complexity of Vietnamese identity across borders, genders, and generations through collective storytelling and artistic expression.
